Plants versus animal foods

Plant-based foods are more friendly to the environment as they require less water and land to produce, with a much lower carbon footprint.

For example, the production of soybean is more sustainable than beef. Comparing the production of 1 kg of soybeans versus beef, soybeans produce 56% more protein 1, but much lower environmental impact: 2-4

    • 48 times less carbon emission
    • 9 times less water footprint and
    • 3.5 times less land use
